The new Water Street WiFi corridor, which will create 1.2 million square feet – or 27.5 acres of new coverage – was made possible by a grant from the Wireless Corridor Challenge, awarded by the New York City Economic Development Corporation.

You can use your computer or smartphone to log on to the network, named “#DwntwnAllianceFreeWifi.” Lower Manhattan’s largest continuous WiFi network will extend along Water Street between Whitehall and Fulton Streets, branching onto popular neighboring side streets, including Stone Street and Front Street, and along the East River waterfront and piers. More wireless connectivity will help attract new businesses, increase foot traffic, connect residents and visitors within a neighborhood and help bridge the digital divide.

Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr LLP (WilmerHale) has provided pivotal support for the growth of the Downtown Alliance’s free WiFi program.
