They also have fantastic and rare films this month, including a series on Sidney Poitier and our 16th year of MoMA's annual film preservation festival.
MoMa has an exciting year ahead and look forward to welcoming you and your customers at MoMA in 2019!

Charles White: A Retrospective
Through January 13

“Art must be an integral part of the struggle,” Charles White insisted. “It can’t simply mirror what’s taking place.… It must ally itself with the forces of liberation.” Over the course of four decades, White’s commitment to creating powerful images of African Americans—what his gallerist and, later, White himself, described as “images of dignity”—was unwavering. This retrospective, closing January 13, charts White’s full career with over 100 works.

Modern Matinees: Sir Sidney Poitier
January 2–February 28

Born in Miami, Florida, Sidney Poitier lived in his family’s native Bahamas until moving to New York in the 1940s. By 1964 Poitier was the first African American to win the Academy Award for Best Actor, and three years later the incredible three-film run of Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner, To Sir, with Love, and In the Heat of the Night made him the biggest box-office draw of 1967. This series is a selection of highlights from Poitier’s unparalleled filmography.
