Sun, Sand, and Surf at Torrance Beach
Torrance is home to a 1.5-mile stretch of pristine coastline neighboring Manhattan, Hermosa and Redondo beaches. This family-friendly beach scene is clean, accessible and is the starting point for “The Strand,” Southern California's coastal bike path. With plenty of parking available, Torrance Beach also provides bathrooms, outdoor showers, life guard station, and a beach café. A local treasure, Torrance Beach is uncrowded with picturesque views of the Palos Verdes Peninsula perfect for relaxing on the beach, playing beach volleyball, or riding your bike along the coast.
South Coast Botanical Garden in Full Bloom
Nicknamed “The Jewel of the Peninsula”, this 87-acre Botanic Garden has more than 2,500 different species of plants from as far away as Australia, the Mediterranean, and southern Africa. The Garden is situated in Sunset's Zone 23, one of the most favored growing areas in the world. About 100 trees and shrubs are rare mature specimens, infrequently seen elsewhere. The wide variety of plant life provides food and shelter to an abundant wildlife and bird population — over 200 species of birds are sighted annually.
Creamistry Has the Scoop on Cool Treats in Torrance
Creamistry combines the science of liquid nitrogen and more than 70 flavors to create flash-frozen ice cream. Newly opened in the Crossroads Shopping Center, Creamistry uses liquid nitrogen to rapidly freeze each customized batch of ice cream to create a uniquely creamy dessert. Guests can pick from dozens of flavors and toppings including black cherry, cookie butter, espresso, sea salt caramel or classics such as chocolate or French vanilla. Whether it's two scoops in a freshly baked waffle bowl or blended to sweet perfection in a Nitroshake, there are plenty of options on the dessert menu this fall. All ingredients are natural and organic, giving the ice cream a richer, fuller flavor.
